Aloha from the Kona moku of Kauaʻi.
Mele au no ka beauty
I ka uka ʻiuʻiu
I Kōkeʻe ua ʻike au
I ka noe poʻaiʻai
Kōkeʻe is a special place for so many of our members and ʻohana. It is a place that we go to spend time with ʻohana, be surrounded by the cool weather, to ʻohiʻohi maile lauliʻi, mokihana, palapalai, and so many of our beautiful resources, to witness and experience many of the wahi pana that our aliʻi would frequent on their travels to Kauaʻi.
Hānai Kaiāulu: Feeding Our Community, Uplifting Our Culture
In 2025, Kaumualiʻi Hawaiian Civic Club continued our partnership with ʻĀina Hoʻokupu o Kīlauea (AHK), which remains our main project of the year. Together, we bridge the gap between local agriculture and our community by providing affordable access to fresh, Kauaʻigrown produce. Our members help distribute boxes of fruits and vegetables to local families, small business owners, and kūpuna— maintaining strong relationships within our community while supporting local farmers and strengthening food security across our island and within our ahupuaʻa. Through this partnership, we continue to hānai (nourish) our people and ʻāina by promoting healthy, locally sourced food and community resilience
Kaumualiʻi Hawaiian Civic Club also helped feed the community during Hoʻākea Mauka to Makai Kauaʻi 2025, held in Hanalei, Haleleʻa from August 22–23, 2025. Building upon Waʻa Kaulua Pae Kula, this event deepened students’ understanding of waʻa (canoe) traditions through interactive learning, hands-on activities, and sailing experiences. Hoʻākea Kauaʻi: Navigating Our Future, sponsored by HIDOE and supported by waʻa and mālama ʻāina organizations, celebrated the rich traditions of Hawaiian voyaging and encouraged the next generation to carry forward the values of navigation, community, and stewardship.

Aloha from the Kona moku of Kauaʻi.
I aloha ʻia nō ʻo Waimea
Me ke one kani mai aʻo Nohili
Pūʻili ko aloha me kuʻu poli
Hone ko leo me he ipo
We share one of the beautiful verses from Kaulana Kou Inoa ʻO Kauaʻi written by Margaret Kilauāno ʻAipoalani and Edna Kilauāno Kaʻiwa as a way to highlight a few of the inoa ʻāina that are loved by our Kaumualiʻi HCC members. Many of our members live in the Kona moku and frequent these places like Waimea and Nohili. Nearby are also Pāʻulaʻula, Kokeʻe, Kekaha, Māna, Polihale, and so much more.
Hānai Kaiāulu: Feeding Our Community and Strengthening Relationships
Kaumualiʻi Hawaiian Civic Club is proud to continue our partnership with ʻĀina Hoʻokupu o Kīlauea (AHK), an initiative that began in 2020 during the pandemic. Together, we bridge the gap between local agriculture and our community, providing affordable access to fresh, Kauaʻi-grown produce. Our club members actively help distribute these produce boxes every other week to local families, small business owners, and kūpuna. Each box is filled with a variety of fruits and vegetables like ʻuala, won bok, head cabbage, and daikon.
This partnership was created to support local farmers while ensuring our community has access to healthy, locally sourced food. Every year we continue to distribute over 13,000 pounds of food to our community—strengthening food security and promoting healthier lifestyles across the island. Through this effort, we are proud to nourish both our people and our ʻāina, fostering a sustainable future for generations to come.

Led by Kumu Hula Kamealoha Forrest, the makua and ʻōpio also visited Hale Maʻumaʻu where they offered oli, hula, and hoʻokupu to Pele followed by a hike through the Lava Tubes. ʻŌpio also visited Wai Ānuenue where Kumu Kamealoha shared significant moʻolelo of that place.

We love being able to share these healthy choices with our members and the community.Kaumualiʻi HCC will once again be partnering with many other Kauaʻi organizations, individuals, and chefs in the 2023 ʻAi Pono Kauaʻi Challenge which is an annual “eat local” week-long event that seeds pride in Kauaʻi’s local food system.
#MauiStrong- We also donated $1000 to support our Maui ʻohana and community and we are committed to finding more ways to support Maui in the long run. Paʻakai and other Kauaʻi resources are being shared with the Maui ʻohana. We love you Maui!
